Hyderabad Kingsmen booked their place in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final with a nail-biting two-run victory over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 at Gaddafi Stadium.
Defending 186, fast bowler Hunain Shah delivered a sensational final over, conceding just three runs while dismissing Faheem Ashraf to deny Islamabad in a thrilling finish.
Chasing 187, Islamabad came agonisingly close thanks to a blistering 43 from Mark Chapman and late fireworks from Chris Green, but fell short despite needing just six runs off the final over.
Earlier, Hyderabad posted 186-5 powered by an explosive 101-run partnership between Usman Khan (61*) and Kusal Perera (37), after valuable contributions from Marnus Labuschagne and Saim Ayub.
Islamabad’s chase had early setbacks before a strong middle-order recovery, but Hyderabad’s bowlers, led by Hunain and Mohammad Ali, held their nerve in the death overs to secure a memorable win.
With this result, Hyderabad Kingsmen completed a remarkable turnaround, winning seven of their last eight matches, and will now face Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 11 final.
