Australia leave out Darcie Brown for Women’s T20 World Cup

Australia have unveiled their 15-player squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with fast bowler Darcie Brown the biggest omission from the squad.

Selectors instead opted for young left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton, who impressed after captaining Australia at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup last year before making her senior international debut across all formats.

Experienced spinner Sophie Molineux will captain the six-time champions despite recent injury concerns, while the squad still features a powerful core including Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath and Megan Schutt.

Young batter Georgia Voll is set for her first Women’s T20 World Cup appearance, while Nicola Carey returns to the global tournament squad after regaining her place in Australia’s T20I setup. Veteran all-rounder Perry is also on the verge of history, needing just one more appearance to become the first player to feature in 50 Women’s T20 World Cup matches.

Australia have been placed in Group 1 alongside South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Netherlands. Their tournament campaign begins against South Africa on June 13 at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Australia squad: Sophie Molineux (C), Nicola Carey, Ash Gardner, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Grace Harris, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham. Travelling reserve: Tahlia Wilson
