Mandhana and King rise to No.1 in latest Women’s ODI Rankings

Smriti Mandhana and Alana King have been crowned the new No.1 players in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting and Bowling Rankings respectively following the latest update after Australia’s ODI series against India.

King climbed to the top of the bowling rankings with a career-high rating of 775, ending Sophie Ecclestone’s near four-year stay at No.1 after an impressive series in which she picked up seven wickets at an average of 16.71.

Her standout performance came in the third ODI where she claimed figures of 4/33 from 10 overs, helping Australia secure a commanding 185-run victory.

In the batting rankings, Mandhana reached the summit with 790 rating points after scoring 58 and 31 during the week, edging past Laura Wolvaardt who sits level on points but could reclaim the position during South Africa’s upcoming series against New Zealand.

Australia also dominate the bowling rankings with Ash Gardner ranked third, Annabel Sutherland fifth, Megan Schutt seventh and Kim Garth eighth.

Meanwhile, Alyssa Healy ended her ODI career on a high with a century in her final match, finishing fourth in the batting rankings with 744 rating points, just behind Beth Mooney and ahead of Gardner.

Gardner continues to lead the ODI All-Rounder Rankings with 516 points, maintaining a strong lead over West Indies’ Hayley Matthews in second place.

There were also notable movements across the rankings, with Annabel Sutherland moving up two spots in the all-rounder list and Georgia Voll climbing 23 places to 34th in the batting rankings after averaging 54 in the ODI series.

Despite India losing the series, Harmanpreet Kaur returned to the top 10 in the batting rankings, rising four places to ninth after scores of 53, 54 and 25.

Elsewhere, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal climbed five places to 14th in the bowling rankings while Fatima Sana moved up to 15th among all-rounders following their ODI series against South Africa.

In T20I rankings, New Zealand’s Melie Kerr moved up seven spots to eighth in the batting rankings and Rosemary Mair climbed 10 places to 14th among bowlers after their home series against Zimbabwe.

Sri Lanka’s Kavisha Dilhari also impressed in the lone T20I against West Indies, moving up three places to 13th in the all-rounder rankings after contributing with both bat and ball in the victory.
