Bangladesh have recalled Mahmudul Hasan Joy to their 15-man Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against Ireland. The 23-year-old top-order batter earned his comeback after impressive performances in the National Cricket League, including scores of 127 and 51 for Chattogram Division.
Joy, who played 18 Tests since his debut in 2021, had lost his place earlier this year after a lean run of form. His return marks the only change from the side that lost 1-0 to Sri Lanka in June. Anamul Haque, Mahidul Islam Ankon, and Nayeem Hasan have been omitted.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has reinstated Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain, confirming he will continue to lead the Test team until the end of the World Test Championship 2027 cycle. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim is set to become the first Bangladeshi to play 100 Tests if he features in both matches.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack features Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, and Nahid Rana as the pace options, with Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and debutant hopeful Hasan Murad providing the spin depth. The Tests will be held in Sylhet (Nov 11–15) and Dhaka (Nov 19–23), outside the WTC calendar.
