Babar 68 and Shaheen’s early strikes seal Pakistan’s 2-1 series win

Pakistan completed a 2-1 T20I series victory over South Africa with a clinical four-wicket win in the decider at Gaddafi Stadium.

Shaheen Shah Afridi set the tone with an electric opening over, claiming two early wickets and restricting South Africa to 22 runs in the powerplay. Faheem Ashraf and Usman Tariq supported the attack, ensuring South Africa were restricted for 139-9, with Corbin Bosch’s unbeaten 30 unable to prevent a modest total.

Chasing 140, Babar Azam anchored Pakistan’s innings with a commanding 68 off 47 balls, adding 76 for the third wicket with Salman Agha. Babar’s aggressive strokeplay, including nine boundaries, took the pressure off his team and guided them to victory with one over to spare.

The result secured Pakistan’s series win, with Shaheen’s early impact and Babar’s masterclass ensuring a memorable performance in front of their home crowd.
