Radha Spins Bright as Rain Denies India in Washout Against Bangladesh

India looked set for a comfortable win before unseasonal rain ended play early in Navi Mumbai, with Radha Yadav starring in her tournament debut.

Persistent rain ruined India’s final group-stage clash of the Women’s World Cup, forcing a no-result against Bangladesh despite a dominant start. After a delayed and twice-shortened match, India were cruising at 57 for 0 in the ninth over, chasing a revised 126, when showers returned to end the contest.

Earlier, India’s left-arm spin duo tore through Bangladesh’s batting. Radha Yadav, making her first appearance of the tournament, impressed with figures of 3 for 30, while Shree Charani backed her up with 2 for 23. Only Sharmin Akhter showed resistance with 36 as Bangladesh struggled to 119 for 9 in 27 overs.

Smriti Mandhana (34*) and Amanjot Kaur (15*) gave India a brisk start before rain had the final say. However, India’s concern will be opener Pratika Rawal’s knee and ankle injury, which kept her off the field during the chase — a potential setback ahead of their semi-final against Australia.

For Bangladesh, the washout brought a small consolation, allowing them to finish above Pakistan on net run rate. For India, it was a game that promised dominance but ended in disappointment — with the weather proving the only winner at DY Patil Stadium.
