Australia have named a reshaped white-ball squad for their upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh, with major omissions from their senior pace attack ahead of a busy international schedule.
Star fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will all miss the subcontinent tour, as selectors opt to rest the experienced trio during a packed calendar that includes upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) commitments.
In their absence, Australia have turned to a new-look group featuring Under-19 captain Ollie Peake and uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott for the Pakistan ODIs starting May 30, while young batter Joel Davies has earned a T20I call-up for the Bangladesh leg of the tour.
Selection chief George Bailey said the move was aimed at broadening the squad’s depth and exposing emerging players to challenging overseas conditions, while maintaining a blend of experience through senior figures in the group.
Mitchell Marsh will lead Australia across both white-ball formats as captain, with selectors also using the tour as part of their long-term planning for the 2027 Cricket World Cup cycle.
Veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been left out of the T20I squad, underlining Australia’s shift toward fresh options as they manage workloads and build depth for future international campaigns.
