Warwickshire sign Usman Tariq for T20 Blast ahead of Hundred Stint

Warwickshire County Cricket Club have secured the signing of Usman Tariq for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast, with the spinner also set to feature in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise, breaking into international cricket within two years of his T20 debut and claiming 18 wickets in just nine T20Is at an impressive average of 11.16.

Known for his deceptive variations including off-breaks, googlies and leg-breaks, Tariq has become a sought-after name across franchise leagues, with stints in competitions like the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and International League T20 (ILT20).

Warwickshire Performance Director James Thomas praised the signing, highlighting Tariq’s tactical awareness and high-impact potential, while also noting the strategic alignment with Birmingham Phoenix to ensure continuity across formats.

Tariq expressed excitement about joining the club, stating he looks forward to bringing “fun and energy” to the squad and playing in front of fans at Edgbaston.

The move comes as Warwickshire reshape their squad following the departure of Moeen Ali, with additions including Jordan Thompson and overseas recruit Beau Webster for the upcoming season.
