Super Eights seal early qualification for T20 World Cup 2028

The race to the next T20 World Cup has already begun, with the first 12 teams locking in qualification for the 2028 tournament following the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Progressing into the Super Eights guaranteed direct entry, with Pakistan and India advancing from Group A, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from Group B, West Indies and England from Group C, and South Africa alongside New Zealand from Group D.

Co-hosts Australia and New Zealand already hold automatic spots for 2028, taking the confirmed lineup to 10 teams, while the next three highest-ranked sides in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings at the March 9 cut-off are expected to be Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland.

The remaining eight places in the 20-team tournament will be filled through regional qualifiers, ensuring emerging nations still have a pathway to the global stage as preparations intensify for the 2028 showpiece Down Under.
