Ireland and Scotland booked their tickets to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday (1), capping a dramatic final day at the Global Qualifier in Nepal. The marquee event will take place in England this June-July, featuring a total of 12 teams.
Ireland make triumphant return
Ireland secured their return to the Women’s T20 World Cup after a commanding 62-run victory over Thailand. Electing to bat first, the Irish posted 121/8, powered by contributions from Amy Hunter (24), Lewis (25), and Orla Prendergast (24). Bangladesh cruised to victory inside 17 overs, led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty’s unbeaten 50 off 44 balls, while Nahida Akter starred with the ball, claiming 3/10. The Tigers’ flawless performance cements their status as a serious contender for the World Cup this summer.
Scotland seal final World Cup spot
