Bangladesh concluded their ICC U19 World Cup 2026 campaign on a winning note, defeating co-hosts Zimbabwe by 74 runs at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday (31). Though neither side was in contention for a semi-final spot, both teams displayed determination to finish the tournament strongly.
Chasing 254, Zimbabwe found themselves under pressure early as Bangladesh pacer Iqbal Hossain ripped through the top order, claiming four of the first five wickets and finishing with an impressive 5/24. Despite the early collapse, captain Simbarashe Mudzengerere played a patient 70 off 121 balls, anchoring the innings and frustrating the Tigers.
In the lower order, Mudzengerere and Mazvitorera added 64 crucial runs for the ninth wicket, giving Zimbabwe a spirited finish, but the hosts were eventually bowled out for 179 in 48.4 overs. Bangladesh’s bowling depth and disciplined performance ensured a comprehensive victory to cap their campaign.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted 253/9, thanks to a captain’s knock from Azizul Hakim Tamim (59) and a late surge led by Al Fahad (23*) and Shahriar Ahmed (15 off 11 balls). The final flourish included 22 runs off the last over, with Fahad clearing the boundary over square leg to take Bangladesh past 250. For Zimbabwe, Tatenda Chimugoro, Shelton Mazvitorera, and Michael Blignaut shared six wickets among them.
The Super Six stage concludes on Sunday with a blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan, which will decide the final semi-finalist. Australia, England, and Afghanistan have already secured their spots in the final four.
