Proteas Women name squads for home series against Pakistan

South Africa Women have announced their T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Pakistan, scheduled from 10 February to 1 March. The series marks a crucial build-up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England & Wales, as well as the start of the new ICC Women’s Championship cycle, which forms the qualification pathway to the 2029 World Cup.

ICC number one-ranked ODI batter Laura Wolvaardt will continue as captain after an impressive summer, including two centuries against Ireland and a second T20I ton prior to the ODI series. The T20I squad also welcomes 20-year-old Kayla Reyneke, who earns her maiden national call-up alongside experienced campaigners Chloé Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, and Marizanne Kapp, returning fresh from Women’s Premier League commitments. Squad regulars Dané van Niekerk, Suné Luus, Ayabonga Khaka, and Masabata Klaas also make the cut.

Wicketkeeping duties will be shared between Sinalo Jafta and Karabo Meso, while Nonkululeko Mlaba and Annerie Dercksen provide spin and all-round options. Tazmin Brits and Ayanda Hlubi return after missing the Ireland series, adding depth to the limited-overs lineup.

The ODI squad sees Lara Goodall, Faye Tunnicliffe, Nondumiso Shangase, and Tumi Sekhukhune come in, replacing Khaka, Klaas, Reyneke, and van Niekerk. The Proteas’ management view the series as an opportunity to consolidate their squad and sharpen preparations ahead of the global T20 tournament and the longer-term championship cycle.
