Sri Lanka have named a talented and balanced squad for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be held later this month across Zimbabwe and Namibia. The young Lions will be led by Vimath Dinsara, with Kavija Gamage appointed as vice-captain for the tournament beginning on January 15.
The squad carries a strong blend of reliable batters and dynamic all-rounders. Alongside skipper Dinsara, Gamage and Mahavithana add depth to the top order, while Viran Chamuditha, Gamage and Chamika Heentigala strengthen the side with their all-round abilities. Sri Lanka’s focus is clearly on flexibility, durability, and adapting to varying conditions expected across the two host nations.
Sri Lanka reached the Super Six stage in the previous edition held in South Africa and will be eager to push even further this time. They have been placed in Group A, alongside defending champions Australia, Ireland, and Japan, setting up a challenging but exciting path ahead.
The Young Lions open their campaign against Japan on January 17, aiming to make a strong statement early in the tournament.
