Oman have named a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, with senior opener Jatinder Singh appointed captain for the showpiece event. He will be backed by wicketkeeper-batter Vinayak Shukla as vice-captain, as Oman gear up for their fourth T20 World Cup appearance.
Oman have made five changes to the squad that featured in the Asia Cup earlier this year. Wasim Ali, Karan Sonavale, Jay Odedra, Shafiq Jan and Jiten Ramanandi have all been drafted in. Shafiq recently made his Oman debut in the Asia Cup Rising Stars, while Sonavale was also part of that competition. The squad announcement also confirmed the omission of 43-year-old Aamir Kaleem, one of the standout performers at the Asia Cup and one of only two half-centurions for Oman during that campaign.
Jatinder, Oman’s most experienced T20I run-scorer, returns to the global stage after missing the previous World Cup, this time entrusted with leading the side. Oman qualified for the tournament by finishing second in the ICC Asia-EAP Qualifier behind Nepal, sealing their ticket to the 2026 edition.
Oman have been placed in Group B alongside Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Zimbabwe. They will open their campaign against Zimbabwe on February 9 in Colombo, aiming to make a strong statement and progress beyond the group stage in what is shaping up to be their toughest World Cup challenge yet.
