- Second Indian woman to the milestone after Mithali Raj
- Quickest to reach 10,000 runs in women’s cricket across formats
- Breaks multiple records in T20Is with 162-run opening stand and most sixes for India
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana etched her name in history by becoming the fourth woman to surpass 10,000 international runs. She is the second Indian after Mithali Raj, who leads the charts with 10,868 runs, joining New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (10,652) and England’s Charlotte Edwards (10,273).
Mandhana reached the landmark in just 281 innings, the fastest among all, surpassing Raj’s 291, Edwards’ 308, and Bates’ 314 innings. She achieved the feat during the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, driving left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage down to long-on for a single to bring up the milestone.
The 26-year-old finished the match with 80 off 48 balls, forming a 162-run opening partnership with Shafali Verma, India’s highest for any wicket in T20Is. She also hit three sixes, surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur to become India’s leading six-hitter in the format.
Mandhana capped an extraordinary year with remarkable consistency across formats. In India’s victorious Women’s World Cup campaign, she became the first woman to score 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 1,362 runs, including five ODI centuries, a feat only matched by South Africa’s Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt. She also became the second woman to surpass 4,000 T20I runs, trailing only Suzie Bates.
Mandhana’s record-breaking year has solidified her status as one of the modern greats of women’s cricket and a cornerstone of India’s batting lineup.
