Top-order batter Joshua Dorne will lead the West Indies at the Men’s Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia, with allrounder Jonathan Van Lange named as his deputy. The 15-member squad also features Jewel Andrew, a 19-year-old batter who has already represented the senior team in three ODIs and five T20Is.
West Indies enter the tournament on the back of two seven-match Youth ODI series at home against Sri Lanka and England. Dorne topped the run charts in both series, while van Lange was the next-best performer. Several other players who featured prominently in those series, including Zachary Carter, Matthew Miller, Jakeem Pollard, Shaquan Belle, and Vitel Lawes, also make the squad, bringing a blend of experience and youth.
Bowling spearheads Pollard and Belle were instrumental in the lead-up series. Pollard claimed 18 wickets at 16.27 in ten matches, while Belle took 15 wickets in nine games. Lawes made a strong comeback with 14 wickets at 14.92 against Sri Lanka, after a quiet series versus England.
Dwain Gill, CWI’s High Performance Manager, emphasised the squad’s holistic approach: “We have aligned their development with the style of play we expect at the senior level, ensured exposure to high-quality match opportunities, and placed a strong focus on leadership, tactical awareness and individual support within their territories.”
West Indies are drawn in Group D alongside South Africa, Afghanistan, and Tanzania. They will kick off their campaign against Tanzania in Windhoek on January 15, 2026, aiming to combine talent, experience, and leadership in pursuit of U19 glory.
