Sachin gifts Messi iconic 2011 World Cup jersey at Wankhede

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar gifted football icon Lionel Messi his iconic 2011 World Cup-winning No.10 jersey during Messi’s visit to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. The moment came as part of Messi’s ongoing GOAT Tour of India 2025, turning the historic venue into a meeting point of two global sporting greats.

Calling it a “golden moment for Mumbai, Mumbaikars and India,” Tendulkar drew parallels between Messi’s visit and India’s unforgettable World Cup triumph at the same ground. He reflected on the emotions of 2011, stating that many dreams had reached their finish line at Wankhede, made possible by the support of fans.

Messi was accompanied by fellow football stars Luis Suárez and Rodrigo de Paul, whose presence further elevated the occasion. Tendulkar praised the reception given to the trio, calling it truly remarkable and fitting for players of their stature.

Speaking about Messi, Tendulkar admitted words fall short. He highlighted Messi’s dedication, determination, and commitment, saying the Argentine great has achieved everything the sport can offer and remains admired across generations.
