A devastating five-wicket haul from Sethmika Seneviratne powered Sri Lanka Under-19s to a commanding eight-wicket win over Nepal in their Group B clash at the Under-19 Asia Cup.
Nepal were cruising at 30 without loss before a sharp run-out triggered a dramatic collapse. Seneviratne tore through the middle order, removing Sahil Patel, Vansh Chhetri, and Dilsad Ali in quick succession as Nepal slumped to 37 for 4, losing four wickets for just seven runs.
Any hopes of resistance were dashed when Rasith Nimsara dismissed captain Ashok Dhami, before Vigneshwaran Akash removed top-scorer Cibrin Shrestha for 18. Nepal were eventually bundled out for 82, with Seneviratne finishing with impressive figures of 5 for 25.
Sri Lanka’s chase was brief despite losing two early wickets. Dimantha Mahavithana (39)* and Kavija Gamage (24)* stitched together an unbroken 59-run stand to seal victory with 35.1 overs to spare, underlining Sri Lanka’s dominance in every department.
