India completed a comeback victory in the final ODI, chasing down 271 for 1 with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli steering the chase to secure a 2–1 series win over South Africa.
KL Rahul finally won the toss for India after losing the previous 20, allowing his side to bat under favourable conditions. South Africa, despite a sparkling century from Quinton de Kock (106), were restricted to 270 thanks to Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna, who shared eight wickets and stemmed the scoring rate at crucial stages.
Chasing a modest target, Rohit Sharma guided the innings early, crafting a measured 75-run knock while shepherding Jaiswal. The youngster reached his maiden ODI century, combining caution and calculated aggression to dominate the chase. Kohli joined in the latter stages, hitting 65* off 45 balls with a flurry of sixes, sealing the game with more than 10 overs to spare.
India’s bowling earlier had set the platform, with Prasidh Krishna breaking the dangerous de Kock-Bavuma partnership and Kuldeep spinning a web around the lower order. Strategic use of spin and control under the dry conditions highlighted India’s tactical depth, turning the match decisively in their favour.
The series win also marked Jaiswal’s emergence as a reliable anchor in India’s limited-overs setup, Rohit’s continuing consistency at the top, and Kohli’s ability to finish matches with authority, giving India momentum ahead of upcoming fixtures.
