Heather Knight named London Spirit Women’s General Manager

  • Former England captain steps into off-field leadership role
  • Will provide technical and strategic support to coaching and on-field staff
  • Remains contracted to England for upcoming T20 World Cup and Lord’s Test

Heather Knight has taken on a new challenge as London Spirit’s first Women’s General Manager, opting out of playing in next year’s Hundred to focus on off-field leadership. In her new role, Knight will provide technical support to coaches and act as a strategic advisor to on-field leaders, working closely with London Spirit Director of Cricket Mo Bobat.

Knight, who captained the franchise to the 2024 Hundred title, previously served as a team mentor and coach while recovering from a hamstring injury during the 2025 season. She remains contracted to England, with commitments including the T20 World Cup and the first-ever Women’s Test at Lord’s against India in July 2026.

The former England captain, who stepped down in March after a nine-year stint, finished the 2025 World Cup as her side’s leading run-scorer, accumulating 228 runs at an average of 48.00. Knight has long signaled an interest in sports administration, having completed a Masters in Leadership in Sport in 2023, with research on balancing international and franchise priorities in women’s cricket.
