- Deepti Sharma matches second-highest bid in WPL history
- Amelia Kerr, Shikha Pandey land major deals
- Alyssa Healy shockingly goes unsold in Delhi
The WPL Mega Auction 2025 delivered high drama in Delhi as Deepti Sharma became one of the biggest headline-makers, matching the second-highest auction bid in league history. UP Warriorz used their Right-to-Match option to buy her back for INR 3.2 crore after Delhi Capitals pushed the price to its peak.
New Zealand allrounder Amelia Kerr followed closely, joining Mumbai Indians for INR 3 crore in MI’s first major signing of the day. Shikha Pandey, absent from India’s national setup since 2023, emerged as one of the surprise premium picks, with UPW spending INR 2.4 crore to secure her services.
One of the biggest shocks came early when Australian star Alyssa Healy went unsold at her base price of INR 50 lakh and remained unpicked through all accelerated rounds. Sophie Devine was the first player sold, moving to Gujarat Giants for INR 2 crore.
Across the marquee set, UPW were among the most active buyers, adding Meg Lanning and Sophie Ecclestone via RTM, and later securing exciting talents like Phoebe Litchfield and Kiran Navgire. Delhi Capitals made headlines by landing rising sensation Deeya Yadav, the youngest player bought this year at just 16.
Smriti Mandhana remains the most expensive WPL buy ever at INR 3.4 crore. The 2026 WPL season is scheduled from January 9 to February 5, played across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
