The build-up to the IPL 2026 Retention Deadline has delivered a flurry of high-impact trades, with franchises reshaping their cores ahead of the next season. Some of the league’s biggest names will suit up in new colours as teams prepare for another competitive cycle.
Ravindra Jadeja headlines the moves, switching from Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals after 12 seasons with the franchise. The senior all-rounder, with over 250 IPL appearances, will join RR at a revised fee of Rs. 140 million. In a corresponding blockbuster move, RR captain Sanju Samson has been traded to CSK at his existing Rs. 180 million fee, marking only the third franchise of his decorated career.
England all-rounder Sam Curran also joins Rajasthan Royals, moving from CSK at his existing Rs. 24 million fee. This will be his third IPL franchise after earlier stints with Punjab Kings and Chennai.
Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has been traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Lucknow Super Giants, maintaining his Rs. 100 million fee. The former Purple Cap winner, with 119 IPL games to his name, strengthens LSG’s experienced fast-bowling group.
Leg-spinner Mayank Markande returns to Mumbai Indians following a trade from Kolkata Knight Riders. The 37-wicket spinner re-joins the franchise where he first made his name. Bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar will also move to Lucknow Super Giants after a transfer from Mumbai Indians, continuing at his Rs. 3 million fee.
Delhi Capitals have secured left-hander Nitish Rana from Rajasthan Royals at his existing Rs. 42 million fee. The experienced top-order batter, who has played over 100 matches, earlier captained KKR in 2023. Meanwhile, Donovan Ferreira returns to Rajasthan Royals after a trade from Delhi Capitals, with his fee revised to Rs. 10 million.
The 2026 season is already shaping up to be one of the most intriguing yet, with several franchises opting for bold reboots.
