The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 retention list is out, with Smriti Mandhana, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Ashleigh Gardner commanding the top retention price of INR 3.5 crore. Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur was retained for INR 2.5 crore, while RCB star Richa Ghosh earned INR 2.75 crore.
In a major surprise, UP Warriorz released Deepti Sharma, the ODI World Cup’s Player of the Tournament, retaining only youngster Shweta Sehrawat. Other notable releases included Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Alyssa Healy.
As per WPL rules, franchises could retain up to seven players, including three capped Indians and two overseas players. Each team has a purse of INR 15 crore, with right-to-match (RTM) options introduced for the first time.
The WPL 2026 mega auction is set to take place in Delhi on November 27, with franchises like UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants entering the auction with the largest remaining purses.
