Chapman’s fireworks help New Zealand edge West Indies in thriller

Mark Chapman smashed a breathtaking 78 off just 28 balls as New Zealand survived a late scare to beat West Indies by three runs in a nail-biting T20I at Eden Park, leveling the series 1-1.

Chasing 208, West Indies were reeling at 93 for 6 before Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd launched a stunning counterattack, bringing the equation down to 16 off the final over. But Kyle Jamieson held his nerve, dismissing Powell and sealing New Zealand’s first T20I win of the home season.

Earlier, Chapman’s explosive knock, including a 19-ball fifty, powered the hosts to 207 for 5, while spinners Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner shared six wickets to derail the visitors’ chase.

Despite Powell’s 45 and Shepherd’s 34 off 16, the West Indies fell agonizingly short, ending their five-match T20I winning streak and setting up a decisive series finale.
