Australia wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against South Africa after suffering a fractured right index finger in Durban.

Josh Inglis will miss Australia’s remaining ODIs against South Africa after sustaining a fracture to his right index finger during the opening match of the series.

Inglis suffered the injury while keeping wicket during South Africa’s innings in the first ODI in Durban. Despite the setback, he continued to bat and scored three runs as Australia were beaten by 67 runs.

Injury Adds to Australia’s Concerns

The injury comes after Inglis had recently produced an important performance for Australia, scoring his second ODI century against Zimbabwe in Harare to help his side secure victory in a closely contested match.

His latest setback now puts his availability for Australia’s upcoming three-match World Test Championship series against South Africa in doubt.

Inglis will undergo further assessment to determine the extent of the injury and his recovery timeline before a decision is made on his participation in the Test series.

Australia will now need to identify a replacement wicketkeeper for the remaining ODIs, with the series continuing against South Africa following their 1-0 lead from the opening match.
