Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their IPL campaign alive with a thrilling chase against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala, completing the highest successful T20 run chase at the venue and handing PBKS their fourth straight defeat.
Chasing 211, DC recovered from early blows through a crucial partnership between captain Axar Patel and David Miller, both of whom struck fluent half-centuries to stabilise the innings after a shaky powerplay. Their stand kept DC in contention despite PBKS posting 210 for 5, powered by fifties from Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer.
PBKS appeared in control after early wickets, with seamers dominating a rare spinless contest on a pitch heavily assisting pace. However, their momentum slipped due to wayward bowling and 17 wides, allowing DC to stay within reach of the target.
The finish was sealed by a calm yet explosive late push from Ashutosh Sharma alongside Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi, as DC overhauled the target with an over to spare.
PBKS had earlier surged past 200 thanks to strong contributions from their top order, but their inability to control the death overs proved costly as DC’s lower middle order executed the chase under pressure to keep their season alive.
