Bhuvneshwar Kumar has surged to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Purple Cap standings after another match-winning spell, strengthening his grip on the race for the season’s leading wicket-taker.
The Indian Premier League veteran produced a brilliant 4 for 23 against Mumbai Indians, taking his season tally to 21 wickets and moving clear of the chasing pack. His consistency has been central to Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s rise to the top of the table.
Behind him, Anshul Kamboj sits on 19 wickets after a strong outing for Chennai Super Kings, while Kagiso Rabada remains close on 18. A tight mid-table battle continues with bowlers like Prince Yadav, Eshan Malinga, Rashid Khan and Jofra Archer all still in contention.
In the Orange Cap race, there was no movement at the top, with Heinrich Klaasen (494 runs) still leading the charts ahead of Abhishek Sharma (475) and KL Rahul (468). Shubman Gill remains fourth after his latest half-century, while young RR batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi completes the top five.
Virat Kohli’s back-to-back ducks kept him stalled in tenth place on 379 runs, alongside other mid-table contenders like Sai Sudharsan, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Ryan Rickelton.
With the playoff race heating up, both leaderboards remain finely poised heading into the final stretch of the season.
