Tanzid Hasan struck a brilliant maiden ODI century while Taskin Ahmed produced a decisive four-wicket haul as the Bangladesh defeated the Pakistan by 11 runs in a gripping series decider in Mirpur.
Bangladesh posted a competitive 290/5 after Tanzid smashed 107, anchoring the innings with six fours and seven sixes while building a 105-run opening stand with Saif Hassan.
Towhid Hridoy added a valuable late contribution with an unbeaten 48 to push the hosts close to the 300-run mark despite a strong spell of 3/52 from Haris Rauf.
In reply, Pakistan mounted a spirited chase led by a magnificent 106 from Salman Agha, who fought back after Pakistan slipped to 67/4.
Accordingly, Taskin’s superb spell of 4/49, including the crucial wicket of Agha late in the innings, halted the momentum and left Pakistan short despite a fighting 37 from Shaheen Shah Afridi.
The dramatic victory secured Bangladesh their second bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan and capped off one of the most thrilling ODI contests of the year.
