Shamim Hossain recalled to Bangladesh T20I squad ahead of decider vs Ireland

Bangladesh have added Shamim Hossain back into their squad for the third T20I against Ireland on Tuesday, ahead of the series decider.

The recall comes after captain Litton Das criticised the selectors for dropping Shamim earlier, highlighting that neither he nor coach Phil Simmons had been consulted about the decision. Das had expressed that including Shamim would have strengthened the middle order.

Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain had previously defended the omission, citing a desire to give Mahidul Islam Ankon a chance in the middle order. Despite past tensions between Das and Ashraf, the decision to bring Shamim back signals a change of approach ahead of the decider.

Shamim enters the squad with a recent record of 0, 0, 1, and 1 in his last four T20Is, but Bangladesh will rely on his experience as the series is level at 1-1 going into the final match.
