Danni Wyatt-Hodge delivered another batting clinic as Hobart Hurricanes powered to their fourth consecutive win, beating Adelaide Strikers by four wickets in a tense finish at Bellerive Oval. The opener anchored the chase with a brilliant unbeaten 72 off 57, guiding her side home with just two balls remaining.
Strikers quick Darcie Brown threatened to steal the spotlight, ripping through the Hurricanes with a superb 4 for 16 – equalling her career-best and briefly turning the game on its head. But Wyatt-Hodge’s composure, strike rotation, and timely boundaries kept Hobart in the fight even as wickets tumbled around her.
Earlier, Adelaide struggled to get going after being sent in, crawling to 134 for 7. Amanda-Jade Wellington’s late surge, a lively 33* off 21 gave the innings some life, but tight spells from Heather Graham (2-23) and Linsey Smith (1-11) ensured the visitors were always under pressure.
Hobart’s chase began with early momentum through a 33-run stand before Brown’s fiery spell sparked a collapse. Yet Wyatt-Hodge stood firm, punishing anything loose and playing the situation perfectly. Hayley Silver-Holmes iced the win in the final over with back-to-back boundaries off Megan Schutt.
With four wins from four, the Hurricanes look like the early-season team to beat, disciplined with the ball, sharp in the field, and driven by a red-hot Wyatt-Hodge at the top.
