Pakistan wrapped up a commanding 3-0 series whitewash with a six-wicket win in Rawalpindi, chasing down Sri Lanka’s modest 211 with 5.2 overs remaining.
Mohammad Wasim led the bowling effort with 3 for 47, triggering Sri Lanka’s collapse after a bright start. Fakhar Zaman’s fluent 55 and Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 61 sealed the chase with minimal fuss.
Sri Lanka threatened a big total early on as Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara motored to a 50-run stand inside eight overs. But once Nissanka dragged one onto his stumps, Pakistan tightened the screws.
Wasim’s bounce and Faisal Akram’s impressive variations dismantled the middle order, with Sadeera Samarawickrama’s 48 the only score of substance.
Debutant Pavan Rathnayake showed excellent temperament with a fighting 32, even launching a stunning six over cover, but the lack of support around him kept Sri Lanka to 211 far below par.
Fakhar Zaman then set the tone with an aggressive half-century, while Babar Azam looked in rhythm before both fell to Jeffrey Vandersay’s sharp spell. A brief wobble followed, but Rizwan and Hussain Talat calmly rebuilt, shutting the door on any comeback.
Their patience-guided stand ensured Pakistan cruised home, completing a dominant whitewash in chilly Rawalpindi conditions.
