Rauf handed two-match ban as Asia Cup tensions boil over

  • ICC suspends Haris Rauf for two matches after multiple code breaches
  • Suryakumar, Bumrah, and Farhan also receive demerit points

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been handed a two-match ban after accumulating four demerit points for two separate offences during Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 clashes against India. The ICC confirmed that Rauf breached Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, relating to actions bringing the game into disrepute.

The sanctions follow a series of heated encounters between India and Pakistan, marked by political tension and on-field confrontations. India captain Suryakumar Yadav received two demerit points for post-match comments, while Jasprit Bumrah and Sahibzada Farhan picked up one each for separate incidents.

Rauf, who missed the first ODI against South Africa, will also be unavailable for the second match before returning for the final game in Faisalabad. The Asia Cup final itself ended controversially, as India refused to accept the trophy from ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, continuing a feud that extended beyond the field.
