Mooney century powers Scorchers to WBBL win

Beth Mooney delivered a scintillating 105 off 73 balls as Perth Scorchers posted 172 for 3 against Brisbane Heat at Allan Border Field. She also contributed in the field, running out Nicola Hancock with a direct hit.

Mooney shared an 89-run opening stand with Katie Mack (31), dominating the bowlers with a mix of leg-side flicks, ramp shots, and powerful sixes. Her power surge in the later overs, including a 21-run over, helped set a challenging total.

Brisbane Heat, chasing 173, struggled despite Grace Harris’ 46 off 30 balls and big hitting from Chinelle Henry (39). Crucial drops in the field and run-outs hampered their response, leaving them all out for 149 in 19.1 overs.

Perth Scorchers’ Ainsworth (2-34) and Devine (2-32) ensured the bowlers complemented Mooney’s batting heroics. Mooney’s all-around display set the tone for a commanding start to the Scorchers’ WBBL season.
