Hobart Hurricanes continued their dominant start to the WBBL season, powering to a 16-run DLS win over Brisbane Heat in Sydney. Lizelle Lee was the standout, smashing an unbeaten 59 off 45 balls to keep Hurricanes on top of the table and Heat rooted to the bottom.
After rain shortened the innings to 12 overs, Hurricanes surged to 114 for 1, setting a revised target of 125. Lee and Danni Wyatt-Hodge were unstoppable in their 106-run opening stand, with Wyatt-Hodge blazing 44 off just 26 deliveries. Only Jess Jonassen managed to keep things tight for Heat with figures of 1 for 12.
Chasing a steep DLS-adjusted target, Heat stumbled early and never recovered. Grace Harris fought hard with 28 off 21, but regular wickets derailed the pursuit as they limped to 108 for 9. A last-ball six from Sianna Ginger only narrowed the margin.
Hurricanes’ bowling unit was clinical, with Molly Strano, Heather Graham and Nicola Carey each striking twice to shut down Heat’s chase. The result leaves Hurricanes unbeaten with three wins, while Heat remain winless after three games.
