India clinch T20I series after Brisbane washout

India sealed a 2-1 series victory over Australia after the fifth and final T20I in Brisbane was washed out by heavy rain and lightning. The visitors looked in command at 52 for no loss in just 4.5 overs before play was abandoned.

Shubman Gill was in sublime touch, smashing 29 off 16 balls with crisp boundaries, while Abhishek Sharma added a brisk 23 despite a couple of early chances. Their attacking start showcased India’s intent on a bouncy Gabba pitch.

With this result, India wrapped up their final T20I assignment before the World Cup on home soil, where captain Suryakumar Yadav hailed the team’s collective effort across the series.

Australia, meanwhile, will reflect on their batting against spin and their rain-affected campaign, as skipper Mitchell Marsh highlighted the positives from their World Cup preparations despite the disruptions.
