New Zealand completed a commanding 3-0 series sweep over West Indies with a four-wicket win in Hamilton, extending their phenomenal home dominance in ODIs. The hosts have now lost just two home ODIs since 2020 and have stitched together 11 consecutive bilateral home series wins, second only to South Africa’s 17.
The West Indies were dismantled for 161, undone by the relentless pace quartet led by Matt Henry’s outstanding 4 for 43. Supported by Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy and Zak Foulkes, New Zealand extracted bounce and movement throughout, removing both openers early and triggering a collapse where only Roston Chase’s 38 offered resistance.
New Zealand’s chase was far from smooth, especially without the injured Daryl Mitchell. The top order slipped to 70 for 4, with Jayden Seales and Matthew Forde striking early to keep West Indies alive. But Mark Chapman (64 off 63) and Michael Bracewell (40* off 31) shifted the momentum with a rapid 75-run stand, counterattacking with authority to shut down West Indies’ hopes.
Chapman, slow to start, exploded after reaching 13 off 29 balls, hammering 4,6,4,4 off Forde to flip the match on its head. Although both he and captain Mitchell Santner fell near the end, Bracewell and Foulkes calmly finished the job with nearly 20 overs to spare.
With sharp bowling, composed middle-order strength, and an unshakeable home record, New Zealand once again proved why they remain one of the toughest ODI sides to beat on their own turf.
