Deepti, Wolvaardt, Ecclestone, Healy headline marquee set for WPL 2026 mega auction

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction is set to kick off in Delhi on November 27, with a star-studded marquee set featuring Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Laura Wolvaardt.

Deepti and Renuka are the two Indian players in the marquee set, while only Renuka (INR 40 lakh) and Wolvaardt (INR 30 lakh) have opted for a base price below the maximum INR 50 lakh. The auction will see 277 players, including 83 overseas, competing for 73 available slots, and 23 reserved for international players.

Several marquee players have prior WPL affiliations. Deepti, Ecclestone, and Healy have all played for UP Warriorz, who have four right-to-match (RTM) options this season. UP Warriorz retained only one uncapped player, Shweta Sehrawat. Other notable overseas representations include 22 players from England, 13 from New Zealand, 11 from South Africa, three from Sri Lanka, and three from Bangladesh.

Among the capped allrounders, India’s Harleen Deol and Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield have set their base price at INR 50 lakh, though Litchfield’s team, Gujarat Giants, cannot use their RTM due to prior overseas retentions. The auction will also feature spinners, including Alana King, Asha Sobhana, Priya Mishra, Saika Ishaque, and Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong.

UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants enter the auction with the largest purses, INR 14.50 crore and INR 9 crore respectively, followed by RCB, MI, and DC. MI and DC, having retained five players each, will not have any RTM options available.

The WPL 2026 auction promises intense competition as franchises look to bolster their squads with top domestic and international talent, setting the stage for another exciting season of women’s cricket.
