Abrar spins Pakistan to historic home series win

Pakistan sealed a dominant seven-wicket win over South Africa in Faisalabad to clinch the ODI series 2-1 — their first-ever home series triumph against the Proteas.

Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed spun a web around South Africa’s batting with a sensational 4 for 27, triggering a middle-order collapse that saw the visitors bowled out for just 143 in 37.5 overs. Shaheen Afridi and Salman Agha added two wickets each to complete the demolition.

In reply, Pakistan overcame an early scare to chase down the target comfortably as Saim Ayub led the way with a blistering 77 off 70 balls, featuring elevan boundaries and a six. Skipper Shaheen Afridi celebrated his first series in charge with a commanding all-round team display.

This win marked Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI series triumph over South Africa — and their most memorable yet coming on home soil.
