Mohammad Ashraful appointed Bangladesh Batting Coach

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has been appointed as the national team’s new batting coach ahead of their upcoming Test and T20I series against Ireland.

Ashraful, remembered for his iconic century against Australia in 2005, brings over a decade of international experience, having scored 3468 runs in 177 ODIs and featured in 61 Tests. He replaces Mohammad Salahuddin, who will step down after the Ireland series following a challenging year for Bangladesh cricket.

Ashraful, who previously served a match-fixing ban before returning to domestic cricket and coaching, now has the opportunity to shape a struggling top order he recently criticized for inconsistency. His appointment marks a fresh start as Bangladesh seek stability and improvement in 2025.
