Stonehouse earns Maiden England Call-Up for New Zealand ODIs

Alexa Stonehouse has received her maiden call-up to the England squad for the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.

The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the young pacer’s inclusion ahead of the second ODI on Wednesday after an impressive run in the domestic One-Day Cup.

Stonehouse has claimed 8 wickets in five matches at an average of 25.12, including back-to-back three-wicket hauls against Durham and Somerset, performances that helped push her into national selection contention.

England currently lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 after edging the White Ferns by one wicket in a thriller in Durham. The tour also includes a three-match T20I series as both sides continue preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Defending champions New Zealand are placed in Group 2 alongside England, Ireland, Scotland, Sri Lanka and West Indies for the tournament, which begins on June 12 at Edgbaston.
