Bangladesh have unveiled their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Nigar Sultana Joty set to captain the side while Nahida Akter has been named vice-captain.
Bangladesh will be making their seventh appearance at the global tournament after sealing qualification through an unbeaten campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier earlier this year. The squad largely retains the core group from that successful qualification run, with Taj Nehar earning a place to strengthen the batting department.
Squad: Nigar Sultana Joty (C), Nahida Akter (VC), Sharmin Akter Supta, Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun, Fariha Islam Trisna, Marufa Akter, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter, Juairiya Ferdous, Taj Nehar.
The batting unit will revolve around Joty alongside Sharmin Akter Supta, Sobhana Mostary and Dilara Akter, while all-rounders Shorna Akter, Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni are expected to play key supporting roles.
Bangladesh’s biggest strength heading into the tournament remains their spin attack, led by Nahida alongside Sultana Khatun, Shanjida Akther Maghla and Fahima Khatun. The pace attack will be spearheaded by Marufa Akter with support from Fariha Islam Trisna and Ritu Moni.
Bangladesh will depart for Edinburgh on 25 May for a tri-series involving Scotland and Netherlands before travelling to Loughborough for warm-up fixtures ahead of the World Cup. Their tournament campaign begins on 14 June against the Netherlands at Edgbaston.
