Kurunegala Pelicans SC etched their name into Sri Lankan football history by winning the Champions League 2025/26 title for the first time, completing the season with a remarkable unbeaten record.
The historic triumph was confirmed on the final day of the league at the iconic Racecourse Stadium in Colombo, bringing an electrifying campaign filled with intense football action to a memorable close.
The official crowning ceremony for the champions will take place on 4 April, during a grand awards celebration organized by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL).
FFSL President Jaswar Umar attended the final day as Chief Guest, highlighting the federation’s vision of expanding football beyond major cities and taking the game closer to rural communities.
Several distinguished guests were also present, including former captain J. Hasimdeen, Pelicans SC President Jude Fernando, and FFSL Competition Committee Deputy Chairman Zahran Sinhawansa.
The achievement marks a significant milestone not only for Kurunegala Pelicans but also for Sri Lankan domestic football, as the dream of taking the sport deeper into communities across the island continues to gain momentum.
