According to reports, Virat Kohli is set to play for Delhi in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic 50-over competition, starting on December 24 in Ahmedabad.
The 37-year-old, who now plays only ODI cricket for India, will feature in domestic games as per BCCI’s mandate for contracted players to participate in domestic tournaments. DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma indicated that Kohli would play a few matches, depending on India’s international schedule.
Kohli recently scored his 52nd ODI century against South Africa in Ranchi, earning Player of the Match for his 135-run innings, which included seven sixes. With the last ODI of the current series scheduled for December 6 in Visakhapatnam, Kohli has a window to represent Delhi before India’s next ODI series against New Zealand.
Delhi will play five league matches in Alur and two at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli’s IPL home ground. Kohli last played 50-over cricket for Delhi in 2013, and his last Vijay Hazare Trophy appearance was in 2009-10, where he also led the side.
Accordingly, Delhi are currently competing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, winning two of their four matches under captain Nitish Rana.
