Hobart Hurricanes reinforced their dominance atop the WBBL ladder with an 81-run DLS victory over Melbourne Stars at Bellerive Oval.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge starred with a classy 71, her fourth half-century of the season, helping Hurricanes post 176 for 4 in 17 overs in a rain-reduced contest. The batter also contributed in the field with three key catches. Wyatt-Hodge’s innings saw her ride the momentum alongside Lizelle Lee before weather delays briefly stalled play.
In response, the Stars struggled under pressure, falling to 98 all out as Molly Strano ran through the batting line-up with 5 for 16, supported by Linsey Smith (2-29) and Nicola Carey. Only tail-ender Sasha Moloney (31) offered meaningful resistance.
Wyatt-Hodge praised her team’s composure: “It was just a matter of digging in, keeping the intent and staying brave. Everyone’s playing really well.”
The Hurricanes’ all-round performance, led by Wyatt-Hodge and Strano, extends their lead at the top and makes them the team to beat heading deeper into the WBBL season.
