India’s spin trio shone under lights as the visitors clinched a 48-run win over Australia, taking a 2-1 lead in the T20I series at the Gold Coast.
Defending what looked a modest 167, India’s bowlers dismantled Australia for just 119. Washington Sundar starred with 3 for 3, while Axar Patel and Shivam Dube chipped in with two wickets apiece in a commanding all-round performance.
Earlier, Shubman Gill top-scored with 46 as India recovered from 121 for 2 to post 167 for 8, with Adam Zampa (3 for 45) and Nathan Ellis (3 for 21) tightening the screws in the death overs.
Australia’s chase never took off, collapsing from 91 for 3 to 119 all out, as India’s spinners exploited a subcontinent-like pitch to perfection. The win left the hosts needing victory at the Gabba to square the series.
