Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll scripted history as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chased down the highest total in WPL history, defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets to claim their second title. The duo put on a breathtaking 165-run partnership off just 92 balls, anchoring a chase of 204 with flair and composure.
After being put in to bat, DC set a formidable target of 203 for 4, propelled by Jemimah Rodrigues’ 57 and Laura Wolvaardt’s 44, while Chinelle Henry’s late blitz added 35 off the final overs. Despite early losses, DC’s innings included aggressive hitting that saw the second-highest first-innings total in any Women’s T20 final.
RCB faced a record chase, but Mandhana and Voll seized control immediately after an early strike from Henry removed Grace Harris. Mandhana’s imperious 87 included 3 sixes and 12 boundaries, while Voll contributed a composed 79 off 54 balls. Together, they navigated RCB past the asking rate, finding gaps and punishing anything loose.
The final stages brought drama. RCB lost both Mandhana and Voll late, leaving 10 runs needed off the final over, but Radha Yadav held her nerve, striking two consecutive boundaries to complete the thrilling chase. RCB’s victory denied DC for the fourth time in a WPL final and cemented their dominance in the league.
This historic win was defined by record partnerships, high-pressure finishes, and strategic brilliance, showcasing RCB’s depth, skill, and temperament in the biggest stage of women’s cricket.
