  • ICC, PCB, and BCB hold constructive talks on regional cricket future
  • No financial or sporting penalties for Bangladesh over T20 World Cup absence
  • Bangladesh set to host a major ICC event between 2028–2031

The International Cricket Council (ICC), along with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has concluded a constructive and forward-looking dialogue covering key regional matters, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and the broader future of cricket in South Asia.

Despite Bangladesh’s absence from the upcoming T20 World Cup, the ICC reaffirmed BCB’s status as a valued Full Member and highlighted the nation’s proud cricketing history and its 200 million-plus passionate fan base.

In a significant show of support, the global body confirmed that no financial, sporting, or administrative sanctions will be imposed on Bangladesh, stressing that its approach is rooted in neutrality, fairness, and facilitation rather than punishment.

As part of the understanding, Bangladesh has also secured the right to host an ICC event between 2028 and 2031, ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2031, reinforcing confidence in the country’s capability to stage world-class tournaments.

ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta described the team’s absence as regrettable but emphasized that Bangladesh remains a “priority cricket ecosystem,” with the council committed to long-term investment, growth, and stronger global integration for the nation’s players and fans.
