South Africa have received a timely boost ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with veteran middle-order batter David Miller cleared to play after recovering from an adductor strain sustained during the SA20 tournament.
The 36-year-old left-hander successfully completed his fitness assessment earlier this week, giving South Africa’s medical team confidence that he is ready for the high-intensity demands of the T20 World Cup. Miller will now join the Proteas squad in Mumbai as they finalise preparations for the tournament, which begins on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka.
Miller’s experience and finishing ability in the shortest format make him a pivotal figure in South Africa’s middle order. The Proteas, drawn in Group D alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, and UAE, will begin their campaign against Canada on February 9 in Ahmedabad.
With Miller fit and ready, South Africa can now focus on strategy and match readiness, confident that one of their most reliable T20 performers is back in the fold ahead of a major global tournament.
