Sri Lanka announced a 16-member squad for the three-match T20I series against England, set to begin on January 30 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The series will serve as the final preparatory assignment for both sides ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which gets underway on February 7.
Dasun Shanaka will continue to lead the side, with selectors opting for continuity by retaining the core group that featured in the recent T20I series against Pakistan. The decision reflects Sri Lanka’s intent to build rhythm and clarity in roles as they enter the business end of their World Cup preparations.
With conditions at Pallekele expected to mirror those at the global event, the series presents a crucial opportunity for Sri Lanka to fine-tune combinations, assess form, and sharpen execution against a strong England unit. As co-hosts of the upcoming World Cup, Sri Lanka will be eager to flex their muscles one final time on home soil and build momentum heading into the marquee tournament.
Sri Lanka squad: Dasun Shanaka (C), Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Pavan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Pramod Madushan, Matheesha Pathirana, Eshan Malinga
