Australia’s young batting sensation Will Malajczuk produced a once-in-a-generation innings, smashing the fastest century in ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup history during Australia’s dominant Group A clash against Japan at the Namibia Cricket Ground in the U19 World Cup 2026.
The left-handed opener reached his hundred in just 51 balls, bringing up the landmark in the 13.5th over to eclipse all previous records in the tournament’s history. Chasing 202, Malajczuk’s fearless strokeplay completely dismantled Japan’s bowling attack and put the defending champions firmly on course for victory.
Malajczuk was eventually dismissed for a breathtaking 102 off 55 deliveries, striking 12 fours and five sixes at a staggering strike rate of 185.45. From the very first over, he seized scoring opportunities with authority, combining timing and brute power in an innings that drew gasps from the crowd and admiration from across the cricketing world.
Opening alongside Nitesh Samuel, Malajczuk forged a devastating partnership that effectively ended the contest inside the powerplay. The duo piled on 135 runs in just 15.3 overs, with Malajczuk dominating proceedings before falling while attempting yet another audacious aerial stroke.
Earlier, Japan had posted a competitive 201 for 8, built around a resilient unbeaten 79 off 135 balls from Hugo Tani-Kelly, who held the innings together amid regular wickets at the other end. However, Malajczuk’s historic onslaught ensured that total was never going to be enough.
The innings not only secured a commanding win for Australia but also announced Will Malajczuk as one of the standout talents of the tournament, rewriting the Under-19 World Cup record books with a knock that will be remembered long after the competition ends.
